Research and Advocacy
Research
HWA has produced informative material and widely circulated analytical reports on the state of peasants with special focus on bonded laborers, children and women. Every year on the international day of peasants, we launch “the State of Peasants Rights in Sindh” to apprise stakeholders about the current status of labor rights in Sindh. We regularly record challenges to child protection and have published ‘The Political Economy of Education in Sindh in 2022’ to update the authorities on issues of exploitation, abuse and violence that jeopardize the wellbeing of children in our region.
Advocacy
A significant part of our implementation strategy is primarily focused on engaging local communities, UN agencies, donors, public representatives and duty bearing government departments. In collaboration with partners, HWA advocates for eco-friendly agriculture, climate resilient public infrastructure, low-cost quality education, child safeguarding and women economic empowerment in program regions.
Through multi-prong interventions, our programs have mobilized large number of citizens-mainly women representatives, mothers, adolescent girls and duty bearers.
Our programs marked several international days with outcome-based activities, including International Youth Day, Universal Children’s Day, International Women Day, and Labor Day. These events engaged several thousand people from the target region. Since last five years, HWA is supporting 20 small peasants and workers’ groups in different villages in district Benazir Abad district in matters related and governing agriculture activities.
Our organization has led large-scale drives and reached hundreds of parents to persuade them of the transformative role of education. We provided necessary facilitation for 600 adult girls to enlist themselves into non-formal learning centers nearby their workstations.
